About Dr. Swati Garekar

Dr. Swati Garekar is a US trained pediatric cardiologist of 20years standing, based in Mumbai/Thane, India. She completed her MBBS at Seth GS Medical College/KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Her pediatrics residency (3 years) was followed by Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship (3 years) at the Children's Hospital Of Michigan, Detroit, Michigan, United States.

She maintains an active license from the American Board of Pediatrics (sub speciality of Pediatric Cardiology) to date.

She began her career in pediatric cardiology at Wockhardt hospital, Mulund, Mumbai (now know as Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai) in September 2006. Roped in by like minded senior cardiovascular surgeon, Dr Suresh Joshi, together they started the first dedicated pediatric cardiac centre at Wockhardt hospital in Mumbai, offering 24 hour high end care in this speciality for affected families, who till then had to rush to Bangalore.

Aside from a brief period of 3 years where she was a consultant pediatric cardiologist at KDA Hospital, Andheri, Mumbai, she has been at Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai. Presently, she is part of a large team of pediatric cardiac specialists at Fortis who provide comprehensive pediatric cardiac care around the clock. Her areas of interest include advanced echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, heart failure, heart transplant and 3D printing of heart defects.
